The tools required for Technology Capacity Management should be capable of monitoring utilization of various components of
the IT infrastructure and other data for Technology Capacity Management. Technology Capacity Management works closely with
Event Management stream for monitoring of capacity. The Event Management tools automatically detect events related to
technology capacity (e.g. threshold breaches). They also monitor utilization data like CPU utilization, memory utilization,
volume utilization, network bandwidth, etc.
Technology Capacity Management Tools should have the ability to collect accurate performance data for proper provisioning
of IT resources. For proper planning and Technology Capacity Management, one must correctly assess available IT resources
and forecast future needs.
The Capacity Manager must determine the items to be measured and how this measurement can be automated. The tools must also
be capable of reporting appropriate technology capacity related key performance indicators. The Capacity Manager must
document the tool requirements and setup the Technology Capacity Management Tools in collaboration with the Service
Delivery Environment Supervision Manager.
